For Alchemia

Little unsure on this. If anyone sees correcting, let me know! Trying to vastly improve the German.

Her drabble -- Severus Snape/Harry Potter

Not here, the boy gasps, they’ll hear.

Can’t Wait.

Lips against lips, tongue against tongue, hands trailing down...

Oh God!

Hush boy.

Can’t.

He pulls off his scarf, presses it into the boy’s mouth, and wraps it around, snug.

Hush boy.

The translation

Nicht hier, keucht der Junge, sie werden uns hören.

Kann nicht warten.

Lippen an Lippen, Zunge an Zunge, Hände, die hinuntergleiten...

Oh Gott!

Sei still, Junge.

Ich kann nicht.

Er nimmt seinen Schal ab, drückt ihn dem Jungen in den Mund und wickelt ihn fest.

Still, Junge.

ETA: Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] kaysha for betaing my German.

Dear Lord, is my German that bad? LOL!

[identity profile] kaysha.livejournal.com 2004-11-21 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh well, I can absolutely see how you came up with the words that you used - they're correct translations of the English words, just not always the hmm.. the ones you'd use in the context of the story/each individual phrase. :)

And of course I also made some stylistic choices! For example, I could have used either Still, Junge. or Sei still, Junge. for both instances of Hush boy., but chose not to.. The same goes for (ich) kann nicht as translation for can't - the personal pronoun is not usually left out in German, so I thought it'd sound strange if it were missing in both cases. And phrases like "to pull off one's scarf" can be translated in various ways (e.g. seinen Schal abnehmen, ablegen, abziehen), just like one could also say "to take off one's scarf" in English. :)

Do you have any messengers perchance?

[identity profile] kaysha.livejournal.com 2004-11-21 09:25 pm (UTC)(link)
You mean messengers like AIM, Y!M etc.? If that's the question, the answer is yes - I'm using Trillian, which combines all of them. :)

D'you want to me to go online now? It's already around 6.30am here, but I guess I'll be up another half hour or so, so if you're quick, we can still talk (ehhh, but you'll have to tell me, because I'm not usually online with any of the messengers! Oh, and my handle is kizzzakay for all of them. Err. I think.)

[identity profile] tipgardner.livejournal.com 2004-11-22 06:03 am (UTC)(link)
Trillian combines all of them!? If you don't mind some interrogation under Veritaserum, how does that work? Where does one find it? Thanks! :)

[identity profile] kaysha.livejournal.com 2004-11-22 04:39 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh yes, it does! :)

Uhhm, it's quite simply a programme which looks like any kind of instant messaging software, but it connects to all major networks (AIM, Y!M, MSN and ICQ.. and even IRC, though I haven't tried that one out yet), instead of just one of them (well, you can set it to connect to any or all - or none - of them.. that's totally up to you!).

So it's really, really nifty, and especially practical for people like me, who don't want to clutter up their computers with lots of software, but whose friends use different messengers (where I live, almost everyone uses ICQ, for example, but most people I know from online use either Yahoo's or AOL's instant messenger).

You can download the basic version for free on the official website http://www.trillian.cc/ (http://www.trillian.cc/). As far as I remember, Trillian Basic is not all that different from the Pro version (I think it's only the more complex features like webcam viewing etc. that are not available in Basic..).

There's only one small disadvantage of the software: The creators/maintainers of the individual networks which Trillian connects to don't like the programme because they want IM users to stick to their own software. Because of that, they (I think it's usually Yahoo) sometimes make changes to their messaging systems, which make it impossible for Trillian to connect to them anymore. However, the Trillian people always react really quickly to such "sabotage" acts and patches can usually be downloaded within a few days!

Hope that helped! :)

Oh, wow. This is the first time I've read Snape/Harry in German. Und es war schööön! =D

Sorry, but it's Monday morning and far too early for any kind of coherent comment. =P

If I remember correctly, don't you speak German?

Yeah, I speak German. Well, at least I try. =P

Ich lernte Deutsch als ich zur Schule ging, aber seitdem habe ich viel vergessen. =/

Es war aber gut, Fanfiction auf Deutsch zu lesen, mir gefällt wie das klingt. =)
