themostepotente: (Lucius/Sirius -- Starrysummer)
[HP Ficses]

[livejournal.com profile] pushdragon has completed and listed all of her AMAZING Bushfire drabbles. I'd link directly to the post, but she's disabled the comments.

I was never sorrier to see someone leave fandom, because she's incredibly gifted, and let's face it, we all benefit from her talents. But mostly because I respect her as a writer and as a friend. Here are just some of my faves:

The Siberian Quickstep - Lucius/Sirius [R?]

It's surprising, really. Despite my having lost interest in Lucius Malfoy's character, I find myself reccing more Lucius fic than normal. I don't know how she does it, but in just a couple thousand words, she creates such a tense atmosphere, that I'm left completely wrung.

Undiluted, Ill-reputed, Convoluted - Harry/Draco [NC-17]

In six years, I've seen a lot of Harry/Draco PWP come and go. But this is so much more. It has a completely different feel to me. Not only does Push redefine the PWP, she re-fucking-invents it. Her porn makes me feel as if I've been taken apart and put back together.

While the Wife's Away - Harry/Teddy, Harry/Ginny, Teddy/Victoire [NC-17] by [livejournal.com profile] marguerite_26.

I've never been fussed over Harry's cheating on Ginny. Or vice-versa. And while I've grudgingly come to accept their marriage as canon, I've had a hard time swallowing their supposed nineteen years of wedded bliss. Seems far too contrived.

Here, Marguerite explores Harry's affair with Teddy without so much as a shred of character bashing. And she does so believably, mildly suggesting Harry's interest stems from a midlife crisis. The set-up is perfect, and I really loved that she blurred the lines between pursuer and pursuee. Or more appropriately, the chased and the anything-but-chaste.

Under the Skin - Teddy/Albus Severus [NC-17] by [livejournal.com profile] leashy_bebes.

I'm only midway through 'Getting There' (which I'm sure I'll more than gleefully rec), but this was a lovely, smutty distraction. Albus is a conniving little shit, and Teddy is the obliging godbrother who puts up with it.

[Retro Fic]

Chrysalis - James/Sirius [R] by [livejournal.com profile] guns_and_butter.

Craving a best friends fic? Then I come bearing substance. This read to me like a cross between Snape/Black and Sirius/Remus, and don't ask me how that's possible, IT. JUST. IS. There's lovely boy tussling in the beginning, and the ending is sublimely bittersweet. Oh, boys. Props to [livejournal.com profile] ayes_sid for linking this from some thread my poor, tired brain hath forgotten.

[Star Trek]

Trouble Sleeping - Sulu/Chekov [R] by [livejournal.com profile] hollycomb.

I wasn't strongly taken with either character's separate performance in the movie, but the boys together? The chemistry between Sulu and Chekov is unmistakable and undeniable. They're just as intense at the helm as they are in bed.

Enjoy all!

1.) I broke down and bought a Dyson vacuum cleaner, because black carpeting + white-bellied cat = lots of noticeable carpet fuzz. Best $325 bucks I've ever spent.

2.) I might've watched the entire Battlestar Galactica series in less than one month after having defiantly denounced its existence four years ago.

3.) I pulled my car over the other day to rescue a stuffed animal abandoned in the middle of the road. It's now buckled in my back seat. This cannot be considered normal.

4.) There will be anime recs soonish.

5.) Death Note Relight: Visions of a God = ♥

6.) I've seen Star Trek three times now. The Romulans, not surprisingly, are still made of suck.

7.) There will be a Star Trek poll tomorrow morning. And no, I've never given much thought to writing Spock/Chekov.
