Since there have been several new character additions from HBP, I decided to do a post to see who took a shine or a dislike to whom -- and also to discuss new favorite ships.
I see no reason really to put this behind a cut. But I implore you, if you have not yet read HBP, DON'T peruse the comments!
So without further adieu...
What new characters did you like/dislike?
What new ships (or renewed interests in old, forgotten ships) have tickled your fancy?

Date: 2005-07-19 11:18 pm (UTC)Here's why I am convinced.
- On several occasions in HPB Regulus is mentioned. It seems like he's mentioned a lot when people are reminicing about Sirius (such as Sluggy for example). I think that's to remind us Sirius did have a younger brother. Regulus Black. R.B.
- He quit the D.E.'s. We don't know why. From the way Sirius speaks of him in OotP it seems like he just wimped out, but who said Sirius really knows.
Maybe he had a change of heart *shrugs*
Maybe he was just peeved at Voldemort for making his life go to hell. That's the theory I'm going with for a RPG I am in (where Regulus is still alive...it's a long story I won't go into).
- Regulus HAD to have known he'd die if he tried to quit the D.E.'s He had to have seen this coming. You can't just resign from being a D.E. He had to have known that when signing up. He's can't be that daft.
- Who said Regulus didn't know about horcruxes? There are ways to find out. Yes, I am sure Voldie didn't personally trust him but who says he didn't overhear a conversation that wasn't meant for him? What if he read about them somewhere and did some poking around D.E. headquarters. There are so many possibilities. It's really all very up in the air.
Again this is all my personal belief.
I'm not saying it's canon, but I'm going to go ahead and consider it canon anyway. Unless in the next book JKR confirms who R.A.B. is and I'm totally wrong. :P

Date: 2005-07-20 12:15 am (UTC)They do mention Regulus alot in this book, and as JKR often brings up something completely new, it usually becomes important (Inferi? Hello?) but there could be another meaning behind it. I don't know any more than you all. It's just, everyone I know is so sure it's Regulus and I just don't know.
You say Regulus could of read up on horcruxes somewhere, but if it were that simple, why didn't Dumbledore do that in the first place, instead of getting Harry to get the memory of Slughorn's? Why didn't Tom Riddle, for that matter, instead of asking one of his teachers, who might of gotten suspicious?
Again, I don't know. I think it's someone who is still alive and maybe Harr will team up with them to fight Voldemort, or at least find all the horcruxes. We justhave to wait and see. Dammit, I want book seven now!

Really the only way to know is to give JKR some truth serum and make her tell, lol.
Oh well, I managed to find a spiffy way of fitting the whole R.A.B thing into the plot of one of my RPG's (where I play Regulus as always). So book canon or not it's now game canon...for this one game at least. Hehe.
Yeah, seriously, I REALLY want book 7.
You know we're going to have to wait at least another 2 years though. *sigh*
Oh hey, you think Harry wil die in book 7?
I sure hope not. -_-
He's not my favourite character but still that would be so sad...

Date: 2005-07-20 02:47 am (UTC)I really hope Harry doesn't die. I mean, I think he is probably one of the horcruxes, but I don't think they are going to have to kill him to get it out of him. Perform an exorcism instead, maybe. How could she kill him, it's written in his POV. All of a sudden, he is thinking, and then he's not, and the book ends? Nah, he'll live. Or I will go Tonya Harding on JKR.
