Since there have been several new character additions from HBP, I decided to do a post to see who took a shine or a dislike to whom -- and also to discuss new favorite ships.
I see no reason really to put this behind a cut. But I implore you, if you have not yet read HBP, DON'T peruse the comments!
So without further adieu...
What new characters did you like/dislike?
What new ships (or renewed interests in old, forgotten ships) have tickled your fancy?

Date: 2005-07-19 01:02 am (UTC)Sanguini! The pasty eating, blood/pasta-named Vampire!
Rolanda (?) Vine? Rapist in training. She's just nasty.
Also... GRAWP PANTS!

Date: 2005-07-19 01:10 am (UTC)Eldred Worple/Sanguini!
The "and, of course, his friend" [er, significant other] line, the "here, have a pastry" [watch your diet, Sang! -- Yes, _Eldred_], the "My Life Amongst the Vampires" [and my life with this particular one]. I was hooked from the first paragraph they were mentioned.
Enough said. They're my new obsession.

Date: 2005-07-19 01:12 am (UTC)I adore Luna Lovegood. I think I might have to ship her with Voldemort because I can't stand it. I will write that. I played with the idea before HBP and now...*dies*
I ilke Slughorn. I like him for being such a consummate Slytherin.
Draco/Pansy. *loves*
Draco/Snape. *Fans self* GUH.
Harry/Draco, for obsessive!hate!sex and nothing remotely relationship-ish. "Tell me what Draco Malfoy is doing inside you." *SNORT* Indeed, JKR. Do tell.
Lucius/Narcissa. My second OTP. *pets them* The Malfoy family dynamic made me clap with glee. I knew she loved him. No trophy wife, my Cissa. Er...Cissy?
Bellatrix/Rodolphus. Because my OTP is crazy, psycho love. Though Bella is slightly less-psycho.
That being said...Bellatrix/Voldemort. Just because. Rodolphus can watch, if he gets out.
Finally, my favorite slashy all-about-the-dominance-fight pair...
Lucius/Rodolphus prison sex.
GUH.
Yeah. That'd be all :)

Snape/Draco!! Oh, the subtext! The running away together at the end! You couldn't have thought up a better set-up for that ship if you tried!
Also, I am all over Albus/Severus and Albus/Harry. This makes me feel slightly dirty. :> Albus/Severus is so interesting to me especially with all these theories surfacing about a second Unbreakable Vow, and, well, of course, *the scene*, and all the questions it raises. As for Albus/Harry, that is just plain cute, and "Dumbledore's Man", and "I'm with you" made me bawl like a sap.

i wasn't much impressed with the new Minister, but i don't feel like i got enough feel of him in this book, so, that could change.

My Dearest Darling Lucius,
No need to worry about me. Severus has been by on more than one occasion.
Lucius: Whore! I saw Severus first!

Date: 2005-07-19 02:12 am (UTC)Blaise Zabini as a tall, handsome, exotic black guy yay!
Phineas Nigellus didn't have enough lines, darn it. I still love him.
Sluggy Slughorn!
Yay for Tom Riddle's dysfunctional family!
Aside from making Snape/Draco CANON BABY! I also was pleased to see Draco/Myrtle, Ron/Squid, Hagrid/Aragog - and am seriously tempted by Lockhart/Slughorn.

Date: 2005-07-19 02:22 am (UTC)Slughorn was interesting, but creeped me out because he's definitely weirdo-paedo material.
I loved the way the book expanded on Draco's character () and Narcissa was painted as a real mummy.
With the exception of the very end with the whole Tonks shite, Lupin was gorgeous. I have a thing for long-suffering older men.
Romilda & McClaggen Just seemed rather pointless to me. McClaggen is future wife-beater material.
Fenrir Greyback has definite fandom potential. Nice and psychotic.
Tom/Anyone-he-can-manipulate is love. Especially Albus.
Ron/Squid OTP.
Also, I'm definitely digging the Trio-love. That was one of the few golden moments of the book. Stronger together.
Dislikes:
H/G, R/Hr, Remus/Tonks : Their Love Is So Pastede On Yay!!1one *gags* That crap totally ruined the book for me.

Date: 2005-07-19 03:56 am (UTC)SanguinaSanguini the Vampire. :DShips, I'm finally vaguely interested in Snape/Lily (unrequited, though) and Neville/Luna. Definitely still on board the Harry/Draco express, and now for more than hatesex, too. Trio shipping like crazy, as usual. I'm evidently the only one who's gone from sort of into Snape/Draco when bored to even less interested in them as a slash pairing. And, no, not because I hate them, but because I now see Snape as an overprotective father, and more in the Arthur Weasley way than the dirty, incesty way. Heh.

Eew to weepy Tonks. I know, she was all heartbroken and mopey because
Remus loves Sirius more than herRemus is holding out on her, but whatever. She wasn't one of my more favourite characters in OotP, and she's still not very high on my to-like list in HBP.WTF was up with Mary-Sue!Ginny?! She's all of a sudden pretty and popular and witty and wot. I think JK read one too many fics from ff.net.
Mollywobbles! Er, I just wanted to type that out.
What new ships (or renewed interests in old, forgotten ships) have tickled your fancy?
Seriously? So much of the H/D. I think with the introduction of sensitive!Draco, there'll be a flood of angsty redemption fics. And to that I say, bring it! <3333333

Date: 2005-07-19 04:42 am (UTC)Apart from Sanguini, the pasty-loving vampire with a roving eye, I gotta say that this book finally made Narcissa and Bellatrix interesting to me. Oh yes. So old-new characters.
Much love for Snape who lives in a hovel and AKs people! :D And Slughorn, the different sort of Slytherin, much love for him, too.
Fenrir Greyback was a horrid, fascinating addition. A true psychopath. I expect an explosion of werewolf-related non-con chan (le sigh), though, and it'll be all thanks to him.
Mollywobbles! Roonil Wazlib! Won-won! "Lav-Lav"! Aahaha! XD Old people got some funky new nicknames.
What new ships (or renewed interests in old, forgotten ships) have tickled your fancy?
Mmm, Snape/Draco, obviously. Still much love for Harry/Snape, the ship that just got so much harder.
Bellatrix/Narcissa.Dumbledore/Riddle.Also enjoyed R/Hr -- not because I give a flying fuck about the ship, but because it was bound to happen and it then stirred up so much shiat. ;)

Date: 2005-07-19 07:41 am (UTC)Romilia Vane needs an intervention. Or something.
I took an odd interest in Draco this time. I mean, he's not new, except he sort of is, because he actually has a personality, purpose and a plot thread of his very own.
The Gaunts were like something out of Deliverance. They were just fascinating, in a trainwreck sort of way.
Remus still owns my soul. He's pretty when he lies and he's my favorite martyr, even if he suddenly likes women.
I've tried desperately not to ship Harry/Voldie all this time, but he really was on about how hot Tom was in every pensieve scene.
Snape/Draco, dude. Why didn't I see it before?
