Viktor Krum -- was the person in charge of casting blind?

I can recall reading that hundreds of Bulgarian boys tried out for the part of Viktor Krum. After seeing the guy they chose, I'm thinking they need to do another casting call. This dude looks NOTHING like Rowling's description of Krum.

I just reread GoF's Yule Ball chapter for the Ron/Viktor story I did so his description is fresh in my mind. He's supposed to a.) be skinny, b.) have a hooked nose, and c.) be Snape pale. In fact, his description is very Snape-ish period, and yet he's got a shaved head and looks bulky. Shouldn't a Seeker be lightweight having to catch the snitch and all? So yeah, the movie hasn't started yet, and already I'm disappointed. What does everyone else think? Cedric looks tasty, so I don't know why Viktor has to be such a bowl of wrongness.

i second your vote for your viktor krum. while i think the person cast is attractive and all, he looks nothing like he's supposed to. and the girl they cast as fleur? ICK. not to mention that she's actually from SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA and looks it. triple ick.

then again, alan rickman aside, everyone knows i've had major issues with pretty much every person they've chosen. okay, alan rickman and rupert grint. but i would like emma watson to go up in a stinky bonfire RIGHT NOW KTHX and dan radcliffe is SO the shittiest potter ever. he got better in PoA, but that just makes him tolerable, not GOOD.

bah. /avert rant. i shouldn't dump all my hp movie woes on you. suffice it to say that i loathe and despise the movies, though if i didn't give a rat's ass about hp i'd like PoA.

What's the name of the person/actor in your Krum icon, anyway? He looks the part.

And yes, I agree the young man they picked for Krum looks completely wrong. I guess they were thinking "Oh...we need a guy who looks like a jock or who attended military school." Perhaps boys from Bulgaria are terrible actors or something.

Looks like he and Milla Jovovich are both in some new vampire flick called "Ultraviolet" that is being released this year. Milla being in the film means that the film WILL get some exposure -- and hopefully the lovely Milla will be 'exposed' in the film as well. Not bad for a first film for the young man. ;)

oh, d00d, the guy in your icon is so much more Viktor than the guy they cast (Stanislav, is it?). Personally, I think they got it backwards with Viktor and Cedric - Viktor is hawt and Cedric is ehhhh...so-so, and it should've been the other way round. ;))

Yes, your icon looks very much like Krum. The actor they cast is quite attractive but he is no Krum.

Actually, most of the actors don't come close to how I picture the characters in my head, especially David Thewlis. Even Alan Rickman, despite his excellent performance, doesn't look as young and thin as Snape should be.
