Strange days, indeed

My day started off typically...

Lunch was a Subway Club at where else...Subway.

But then -- my day got weird.

I helped bring a new life into the world today. I actually assisted in delivering a baby.

It was fascinating and weird and messy and uplifting -- all at the same time.

I was tempted to press for a middle name, but then I thought, why torture another soul with such a fucked up name like Penny :P

Wow. I take it you weren't uh, anticipating this to happen?

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Not exactly. *G*

But some of the best things that happen are unexpected :-)

Wow! That's awesome! Isn't it just beautiful, watching someone give birth?

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe I should have considered Obstetrics?

[identity profile] odogoddess.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 07:46 pm (UTC)(link)
Congrats! That's such a wonderful feeling. :)

Speaking as one who was a birth coach for two of her cousins.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks!

Knowing you make a difference is a wonderful feeling :-)

[identity profile] twigged.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 07:49 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG. I bet that was weird! ;)

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:50 pm (UTC)(link)
One of these days I'm going to chronicle a day in the autopsy room.

Weird doesn't even begin to scratch the surface there.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thank you, dear :-)

[identity profile] mamaboid.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 10:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Congratulations! That is so cool! I'll bet you did fantastic, too.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks,MamaB! I think I did okay. *G*

I've never seen someone's pussy explode

I bet that's something to remember.

Like your thread title, perhaps, D? *G*

[identity profile] florassecret.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 11:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Too cool. I can't wait to give brith to my bean. How are you Penny?

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 03:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm good, Sass -- how are you?

[identity profile] fleshdress.livejournal.com 2005-03-17 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)

Oh wow! I take it this wasn't an intended part of the day's schedule?
That must be really mind-blowing, to be one of the first to see a new little person arrive.

And there are certainly worse names than Penny. Believe me. My dad was intent on calling me Beryl. He actually went off to register me as such, then decided against it while he was there but forgot for the first few days after to tell my mum that he'd actually registered me with the name Mum had really wanted. I maintain that's why I'm as confused as I am - being wrongly called Beryl for three days at the start of life would do that to anyone.

I dunno, Flesh -- Penny is pretty bad.

Don't make me list all of the other names the rents considered.

Was this at Subway, too? Boy, I bet their eyes were buggin'!

Well, you're a med student aren't you? Just think of this as practise then...

Re: Wow...

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 04:03 pm (UTC)(link)
The first of many. *G*

What a wonderful thing to witness! Each time I have been present for such an event, I feel blessed.
And it has also affirmed over and over to me that I never want to give birth. Ever. I am more than happy to be the auntie/godmother that spoils the kiddies.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 04:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, that's definitely NOT the kind of pain that trips my trigger. *chuckles*

*pets your pretty bat icon*

[identity profile] shaychana.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 08:48 am (UTC)(link)
wow. birth scares the shit out of me, personally, but i can see how it might be an interesting experience to watch it.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-18 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
It's like an accident on the Autoban -- you can't look away.

[identity profile] altiloquent.livejournal.com 2005-03-19 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Wow that's actually really awesome. Gross, but awesome.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-19 09:54 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah -- weak stomachs need not apply. Good thing it happened a few hours after lunch. LOL!

[identity profile] lizardspots.livejournal.com 2005-03-20 09:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's amazing! I can't wait til I get to assist with one.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-03-21 05:31 pm (UTC)(link)
That's right. You're pre-med, aren't you?

[identity profile] lizardspots.livejournal.com 2005-03-22 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Yup. :D
