Fandom and other fandoms -- do you indulge?

Besides the Harry Potter fandom -- do you write for any other fandoms currently?

What ships do you like in other fanverses?

Have you considered trying your hand at writing for another fandom?

Or perhaps you left another fandom to come to Harry Potter?

Do you consider some of the fandoms to be flash in the pans?

And lastly, how long do you foresee the Harry Potter fandom lasting?

I know that I've written for;

LoTR
TPM
Star Trek
X-Men

[livejournal.com profile] cave_canem is making me seriously consider the Buffyverse.

What are your thoughts on the topic?

I think what happened to me was four-fold: 1) there wasn't quite enough canon for me to latch on to (I never got into the YA novels that were published concurrent with the movies) 2) I'd kind of burned out on the SW mythology in general (I'd gotten involved in SW fandom way back when the first movie was shown in, what, 1976? Saw it the requisite 9 million times, that sort of thing), 3) a lot of the fiction I encountered read a lot more like original fiction than fanfiction (see #1), and 4) the main pairing (Q/O) didn't quite do it for me chemistry-wise. As a writer, I can imagine that the universe would offer a ton of potential for great plots and great ideas. And as a reader, I do still enjoy the occasional TPM story that gets recced (though, I'll admit, I prefer SW:ANH fic...Luke/Han). But in general...it was just easy for me to sort of drift away.
