I'll be the first to admit -- I don't write Remus Lupin well.

I know that I 'prefer' him submissive. I have a harder time wrapping my brain around alpha Remus, especially paired with Snape or Sirius.

I think people associate his lycanthropy with 'aggressive' tendency and sometimes forget that not all wolves are alphas of their packs.

So for those of you that write Remus Lupin on a consistent basis, do you prefer him aggressive or docile? Or perhaps a little of both?

I prefer him portrayed as strong, no matter whether he's a dom or a sub. I like dom!Remus -- I like him a lot -- but it doesn't have as much to do with the fact that he's a werewolf as it does the fact that he's a strong survivor. He's capable of telling both Sirius and Molly to sit down and shut up -- and they do -- and he's capable of commanding the respect of a classroom of adolescents. Speaking as a teacher myself, I know from experience that no matter how quiet and reserved you are, the best teachers are also strong people with "dominant" personalities. I'm 5 ft. tall and weigh less than 100lbs, but I can reduce a class full of hormonally charged 18 yr olds to wide-eyed silence just by staring at them. I can make them squirm in their seats if I quietly add, "You're not listening, and that makes me unhappy."

I see Remus as someone who doesn't exert his strength and authority often because of what he is -- getting in someone's face and being confrontational isn't a good idea for a werewolf, because it could be perceived as a serious threat -- but it's there for him to call on when he deems necessary.

So basically, I love the idea of this strong but quiet man turned aggressive in bed -- that's just insanely hot to me. *G*

*grins* oh yes, but it's the laid-back!Alpha-Remus that gets me shivering. In a good way of course. *smirks*

That's generally how I write him -- in control and able to maintain that control with a quiet word, in bed and out of it. ;)

*snickers* Sounds fun to me. *grins* Pardon my ignorance, but what pairings have you written and where can I find them? I'm in the mood to read some Remus!fanfiction. XD

I've got plenty of that in quite a few different pairings, but I'll just give you a few of the better ones. *G*

Snape/Lupin
The Way of the World (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/walkaway.html) (long)
For Life (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/forlife.html) (long)
Run, Run As Fast as You Can (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/runrun.html) (short PWP with alpha!Remus)

I have 5 Remus/Harry stories here (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fictionrlhp.html), mostly shortish PWPs.

Remus/Sirius:
The Taming of Sirius Black (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/rlsb.html) -- long, featuring a dom/sub relationship.
Break Through (http://www.livejournal.com/community/pornish_pixies/96451.html) -- PWP

Human Again (http://www.livejournal.com/community/pornish_pixies/92105.html), which is a Remus/Bill PWP.

And Better Than Handsome (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/betterthan.html), which is a Remus/Neville PWP and a bit unusual. *G*

That's just an overview; I have something like 20 Snape/Lupin stories in all, plus a few other het Remus stories. Can you tell I like Remus? ;)

Guuhh... *shivers* What would I have to do to get you to write more Remus/Bill fics? *eyes glaze over* I'll willingly draw something for you, if you wish, my pencil/wacom tablet is at your disposal. *grovels*

When it comes to Remus/Bill, I'm easily bribable; I've been looking for reasons to write more of those two together. *G* Any particular scenarios you'd like to see?

How they got together. Definately that. *grins* Perhaps set in Egypt because Dumbledore wanted Remus to run an errand for him? *grins wider* Is there any particular picture you'd like? I'm open to almost anything. ^^; Though if you make it a long fic, I'll make it two pictures!

I absolutely adore how you write Remus. He's so there, so real, so tangible in your stories!

Thanks! I have a very strong Remus muse living in my head who tends to be quite vocal, so I have a rather in-depth personal characterization of the character that pervades anything I write about him. *g*

Ooooh, I was hoping you'd answer this, SI!

You make a very strong point about Remus being able to take charge of his classes despite being soft spoken.

Remus has their respect. Snape has their fear.

I wonder if Snape is aware of this, and if he is jealous?

Snape 'could' have their respect. Hmm... *coughplotbunnycough*

You know, I want to pick you up and spin you around now :-)

LOL! I wouldn't be surprised if Snape is jealous of Remus, and not just because Remus is able to control his classroom without scaring the wits out of them. Both of them have suffered, both had difficult childhoods, both are outsides. Snape is who Remus could have become if he had let anger, resentment, and bitterness eat at him. They're two sides of the same coin -- hence my love of the pairing.
