The Big Bang Theory Recs (Fic/Art)

[The Fic]

So, I basically inhaled three seasons of The Big Bang Theory. IDEK. I get fixated on something, and it just consumes me. Not long ago, I asked for recs. Most of the recs I was given were for Sheldon/Penny, which is admittedly not my cuppa. And let me reassure you that it has nothing to do with Penny. Or Sheldon. Or that it's het and not slash. When it comes down to it, I guess I just have trouble seeing Sheldon with anyone, because he's portrayed as a non-sexual being. And honestly? I almost prefer him that way. It's part of his charm.
Now and again, though, I like to stretch my legs and step out of my comfort zone. So when__hibiscus left me a pile of links, I immediately clicked on the apocalypse fic. Namely because I'd just watched the episode in which Sheldon and Leonard discussed ridiculous clauses on their roommate agreement.
Okay, so anything zombie-related gets repetitious after while, I know. I'm sure we all get the appeal of gore and silly humour. (BRAIIINS!!! *shamble, stagger, left foot drag*) But this fic focussed on survivalist tactics and the human condition, and I really enjoyed the contracts between Sheldon and Penny.
I love how an accident in the CalTech science lab is the catalyst for this catastrophe. It really fits with the style of the show, but nothing is ever outlandish. There are some intense scenes, and Sheldon's practicality and Penny's determination keep the storytelling nice and taut throughout. What I really loved about this fic, though, is the scene in which Sheldon finds a piano in an abandoned building and just dominates it. The sonata serves as a focal point, and I love the effect it has on the atmosphere. Gritty and haunting and an absolute must for anyone that enjoys TBBT.
