[Fic] But Can She Do Maths? - McGonagall/Krum [R] by Mystery Author.

Beholder always seems to deliver the goods when it comes to Viktor fic. Both [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic and [livejournal.com profile] atdelphi submitted wonderful entries to last year's fest. This year's 'Can She Do Maths?' is no exception. It's charming, witty and quite sexy with a 'knows-what-the-hell-she-wants' Minerva. And thus far, it's one of my favourites!

During their weekly soak in the Prefects' bath, Minerva and the girls like to peruse the personals in search of lonely hearts. When they stumble across a Quidditch professional's call for a Ball escort, Hooch and Pomfrey encourage Minerva to answer. To everyone's surprise, it's Viktor Krum, and he's not interested in what you might think!

To the Viktor go all the spoils? Not quite. Proofs positive that Maths is a fun romp all about the ladies. *g*

[Fic] Never Hearts and Flowers - Moody/Scrimgeour [Mature] by Mystery Author.

Someone made a comment on this fic how there was not enough Moody love in fandom, and I highly concur. Beyond the scars, we know next to nothing about ol' Mad-Eye, and this fic gleefully fills in the gaps of Moody's life as an upperclassman and mentor to Rufus Scrimgeour. Alastor is quite taken with Rufus as a youngster, unobtrusively watching him overcome the obstacles of a bullying, older brother and social anxieties.

There is an endearing scene further in that has Moody 'spackling' the hole in Rufus's bum cheek from a thrown curse that had me grinning from ear to ear. I never gave much thought to the pairing until now, but you know, it makes perfect sense to me. And this is done really well. Not a classic happy ending as the author follows canon, but a very satisfying one. I love strong-willed wizards that stick it to The Man, y'know?

Thanks again for the recs hon! ♥

And, yes, although I haven't been reading as much as I'd like from Beholder - "But Can She Do Maths?" - McGonagall/Krum [R] - is *fabulous*. And I'm not just saying that because I had a bit of a preview while it was being written. ;D

You're welcome, hon. Lots of really good art there. I loved 'The Rare Vegimagus' a lot. Severus is such a surly looking cat, and pumpkin!Harry is adorable!

Heh, I may have had a sneak peak at Maths, too. *g*

Oh! Did you see I wrote Merlin fic the other day?

[identity profile] accioslash.livejournal.com 2010-04-29 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
OMG! You wrote Merlin?! OMG!YAY X eleventy billion! *goes searching*

I have been up to my eyeballs in rl as well as the Snarry-a-Thon so have missed a ton of Merlin stuff. That fandom owns my soul. It rivals Snarry if you can imagine. I'm so excited so many of my favorite people are becoming interested/active in that fandom.

Hahaha, the Rare Vegimagus has been interesting. I've been getting a few PMs about it. Hopefully after the reveals people will be able to see a similarity between that and the artist's other works.

How is your hubby doing, and how are you holding up? I don't even know how you've had the time to run a fest. You are a trooper, darling ♥

Eeeee! And I just saw your comment on my Merlin ficlet, thank you! I'll be trying my hand at Sherlock Holmes next. That won by a landslide in the poll I posted.
