I should have some recs in the next couple of days (very possibly tomorrow), and then I am going deep undercover to finish a short Draco ficlet and my [livejournal.com profile] hd_holidays's fic as it still needs much work.

[Random Fandom]

A very pleasant start to a grey Tuesday morning. I was nominated for a MoME Award for my Kirk/McCoy fic By Way of the Heart and the Stars.

I was feeling a little fandom bluesy writing-wise, so this was an unexpected pick-me-up. Yay!

[Serious WTFs]

A big truck was blocking my way the other day, and when I finally got around past it, I couldn't help but notice the logo on the side of the truck.

HEELS ON WHEELS

Apparently, they deliver shoes. So, the basic message I'm getting is that a.) women are shoewhores b.) women are lazy shoewhores. WTF!

And then, and then...

I went to Wal Mart to exchange some AAA batteries for AA, and the returns clerk looked at me and said, "Don't you have any toys you could use these for?"

AND THEN SHE FUCKING WINKED AT ME! ARGH!

OMG, I could be mistaken, but I really do not need people implying my toys *cough* need battery maintenance. Rarely am I rendered gobsmacked, but that did it. OMG, SERIOUS WTFery!

Have a WTF story to share? Love to hear 'em!

Wow. That is rudeness beyond measure.

At the time, I didn't know any better, mainly because I was 15 and impressionable, but I used to love Benetton. In retrospect, though, they were outrageously overpriced for the mid-80s.

Forgive my ignorance. Is a size 14 UK comparable to a size 14 US?

I like their stuff for the quality and longevity (everything I ever got from Benetton I still wear) but the rudeness was off scale even for southern Europe where it's normal for people to judge one another by weight and style.

I don't know US sizes so I'm trusting a converter that says UK 14 is US 12; not tiny by a long shot but still, most 'high street' shops regularly stock to UK 16 or even 18. Bah! I wish I had weirdly skeezy WTFs to report instead of plain bad ones. :D

God, that kinda crap really makes me angry. Sure, a size 12 isn't tiny, but it's certainly not fucking big, either. Was the salesperson male or female? Men tend to know shit about weight concepts.
