A Thank You and a 'Pay It Forward' Story

I just wanted to thank everyone for their kindness and understanding the other day. I was completely overwhelmed with love and well wishes. That meant a lot to me. Truly, I am touched. Thank you!!!
And so, I returned this kindness by paying it forward today. A little patience for my explanation, if you please.
The fan artists have given me so much joy over the years. They are very special people to me. To show my appreciation, I started reccing fan art regularly. I do apologise if I've been lax as of late. I haven't had much time or energy lately. Change is on the horizon. *G*
A very dear friend of mine is a fan artist in a different fandom. Her cat was in need of a costly procedure, so she decided to offer commissions to pay the vet bills. Her rates were completely fair.
To cut a long story short, the person who commissioned my friend cheated her out of fifty bucks. They'd made a deposit, so there seemed to be no reason to distrust the person either. I mean, who pays a deposit only to flake? Is this commonplace?
Quite recently, I'd commissioned someone to do fan art for me for an upcoming fic I'm writing. This artist was absolutely lovely about the whole procedure. Was very communicative. Sent me line art. Updated me regularly. Was timely. Most of all very professional. To say nothing of how pleased I was with the result. Just a very pleasant experience. LOVE her to pieces, really ♥
I paid her half to get going, and then once she'd sent me the art, I paid her the rest of the money I owed her. My friend had a very similar policy.
It just really kills me that people automatically think that the internet should give them free reign to be SHITTY and SHIFTY and FUCKING DECEPTIVE.
So, what did I do? I paid the dead-beat cunt's fifty bucks to my friend. I've been in that 'can't afford the vet bills' spot and it's made of utter heartbreaking suckitude. She doesn't know it yet as I've sent it via pay pal, but I hope it brightens her day.
And thus I close my 'pay it forward' post with this: If I fucking hear about anyone douching over a fan artist on a commission like this? I will shove my size eleven Puma so far up your arse, you'll be tasting vulcanised rubber for a fucking month. Just. Don't.
