Still working my way through one longish fic, so there will definitely be more SG recs. Stay tuned!

[The Fics]

Thrice Turned [NC-17] by [livejournal.com profile] synn

How do you write Snape/Harry? Het it perfectly? And make it canon? EXACTLY. LIKE. THIS.

I had serious reservations about this fic when it was first posted, because I am not a huge fan (or, one at all, really) of genderfuck fics, but that just goes to show you the talent we have in fandom. This is told from Snape's point of view, and how he struggles not only with the change but also with the truth. I swear, it's amazing what you discover when you just keep an open mind. Absolutely brilliant, this.

Sex, Lies and Audiobooks [NC-17] by [livejournal.com profile] joanwilder.

This fic took me a couple of days to read, but it was so good that I was still reading thirty minutes before the start of a concert. Who says BlackBerry doesn't advocate porn? *G*

This is a quiet, contemplative fic that explores the different life paths taken by two very different but similar men. Ten years after their last meeting, a codicil in Albus Dumbledore's will surfaces with unusual conditions, and Severus and Harry must meet on common ground under special circumstances.

Leave it to Joan to play up Albus's idiosyncratic genius, because there is a method to his every madness. A box, with Pandora-esque pull, is left in the hands of Albus's caretaker, the contents of which irrevocably change lives.

Both Snape and Harry must break from their lives and meet in the quaint village of Lochdubh for the box's opening, unbeknownst to them both that the caretaker is on holiday. Together, they wait it out, and Severus helps Harry put his life back into perspective along the way.

How much did I love this fic? Lots and lots, let me tell you. It starts with their professions; Severus being the sexy-voiced audiobooker, and Harry, the carefree but troubled woodworker. From there, it middles with Shakespearean felines, shinty matches, Captains Courageous and single malt confessions, until it ends with…

Something very unexpected.

Severus being the sexy-voiced audiobooker

Oh for him being his own self in the actual Harry Potter audiobooks. I find Stephen Fry marginally better than Jim Dale but they both make me *facepalm* when they read Severus's lines, to much less comedic effect than when they both try to Hermione it up a little.

Oddly enough, I've heard great things about the HP audiobooks, but have never actually heard them :P
