Okay, this needs to be said...

These awards have been designed to celebrate the diversity...

Diversity my Kraut ass.

I just took a gander at the Multifacted Awards to see who won. I was nominated for two categories and TOTALLY DID NOT expect to win. That's not my issue. However...

Why am I noticing a pattern with the MFA? Why are most of the winners a.) authors I have never fucking heard of (the exception being [livejournal.com profile] dementordelta -- congratulations sweets!) and b.) mostly SS/HG fics?

Not that I have anything against the pairing, but...

WHAT.

THE.

FUCK?

How did [livejournal.com profile] cybele_san only get an honorable mention for IYAP?

*throws hands up*

I sort of think the same thing about "top 10 fics" and "top 10 art pieces" of fandom. What might be top 10 on LJ might not be in say, a the H/Hr centered part of fandom or centered around Fiction alley. Same with art. Someone could have a beautiful gallery on an obscure website that might never get the traffic someone at Deviantart might. The same questions posed in different parts of fandom would have completely different answers. For someone to claim to have the DEFINITIVE list of XYZ is virtually impossible in a fandom this enourmous.
Those awards do seem very SS/HG heavy handed, but it's to be expected if run by a site that ships that couple. I'd assume if the SQ had hosted these awards, they would be very OBHWF heavy in recs.
Probably their best bet to insure the diversity they so proclaim would be to send a blurb of "hey, we're having this thing" to the heavily trafficed main shippng and genfic sites out there, like the Quill and Portkey and House Rivalry and other such places.
But I really know nothing of running the mechanics of an fanfic award type thing, so I could just be blowing smoke out of my ass about this all. That list has pointed me out to a few things I've never seen, so I'm grateful for that.

Some of the stuff on the list looks very Sue-ish to me. Like Snape/OFC -- just NO.
