Fandom Discussion: New HBP Additions -- yea or nay?

Since there have been several new character additions from HBP, I decided to do a post to see who took a shine or a dislike to whom -- and also to discuss new favorite ships.

I see no reason really to put this behind a cut. But I implore you, if you have not yet read HBP, DON'T peruse the comments!

So without further adieu...

What new characters did you like/dislike?

What new ships (or renewed interests in old, forgotten ships) have tickled your fancy?

Liked Fenrir. He definitely has darkfic non-con horror written all over him. I'm excited for the possibilities there.

Wasn't too keen on any of the other new characters. :\

Snape/Draco!! Oh, the subtext! The running away together at the end! You couldn't have thought up a better set-up for that ship if you tried!

Also, I am all over Albus/Severus and Albus/Harry. This makes me feel slightly dirty. :> Albus/Severus is so interesting to me especially with all these theories surfacing about a second Unbreakable Vow, and, well, of course, *the scene*, and all the questions it raises. As for Albus/Harry, that is just plain cute, and "Dumbledore's Man", and "I'm with you" made me bawl like a sap.

(Came here from D_S)

Did you know Fenrir is a name from Nordic Mythology? It's the name of the wolf who was destined to kill Óðinn (the cheif god). He was chained up, but in order to trick him into letting them chain him up, they had to sacrifce the hand/arm of Týr (the war god). Fenrisúlfur (Fenrir the wolf) is the sibling of Miðgarðsormur (a huge worm that circles the world) and of Hel (the mistress of the underworld.) They are all the spawn of Loki. (The god of mischeif.)

Interesting, no?

Hmm!! I did not know any of this! I'm always amused at the way the characters in HP are all so aptly named. Sanguini for a vampire, Lupin for a werewolf. It's as if they're destined to become that dark creature. Rowling certainly is none to subtle in her penchant for creative and symbolic naming :D

I know! I was floored to see something from Nordic mythology at last. :)
