Fandom Discussion: New HBP Additions -- yea or nay?

Since there have been several new character additions from HBP, I decided to do a post to see who took a shine or a dislike to whom -- and also to discuss new favorite ships.

I see no reason really to put this behind a cut. But I implore you, if you have not yet read HBP, DON'T peruse the comments!

So without further adieu...

What new characters did you like/dislike?

What new ships (or renewed interests in old, forgotten ships) have tickled your fancy?

--P

Loved Luna - if she's still considered new. Everything she says is brilliant.

Sanguini! The pasty eating, blood/pasta-named Vampire!

Rolanda (?) Vine? Rapist in training. She's just nasty.

Also... GRAWP PANTS!

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:04 am (UTC)(link)
Her first name was Romilda.

Sanguini -- wasn't he just aptly named? *G*

Slughorn owns my soul. I am so enamoured with the slimy little bastard. *snuggles him* (Hm. I may just have a thing for Slytherin Heads of Houses... *ponders*)

As for ships? *coughcough*

Snape/Draco, baby. ALL THE WAY!

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, the shippy implications!

I thought of you and [livejournal.com profile] rosesanguina immediately. *G*

Nice icon, Femme :-)

[identity profile] acid3.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:10 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, good question.

Eldred Worple/Sanguini!

The "and, of course, his friend" [er, significant other] line, the "here, have a pastry" [watch your diet, Sang! -- Yes, _Eldred_], the "My Life Amongst the Vampires" [and my life with this particular one]. I was hooked from the first paragraph they were mentioned.

Enough said. They're my new obsession.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:12 am (UTC)(link)
Could I persuade you into sketching them? *G*

I'm in love with Merope Gaunt's name. Seriously.

I adore Luna Lovegood. I think I might have to ship her with Voldemort because I can't stand it. I will write that. I played with the idea before HBP and now...*dies*

I ilke Slughorn. I like him for being such a consummate Slytherin.

Draco/Pansy. *loves*

Draco/Snape. *Fans self* GUH.

Harry/Draco, for obsessive!hate!sex and nothing remotely relationship-ish. "Tell me what Draco Malfoy is doing inside you." *SNORT* Indeed, JKR. Do tell.

Lucius/Narcissa. My second OTP. *pets them* The Malfoy family dynamic made me clap with glee. I knew she loved him. No trophy wife, my Cissa. Er...Cissy?

Bellatrix/Rodolphus. Because my OTP is crazy, psycho love. Though Bella is slightly less-psycho.

That being said...Bellatrix/Voldemort. Just because. Rodolphus can watch, if he gets out.

Finally, my favorite slashy all-about-the-dominance-fight pair...

Lucius/Rodolphus prison sex.

GUH.

Yeah. That'd be all :)

Liked Fenrir. He definitely has darkfic non-con horror written all over him. I'm excited for the possibilities there.

Wasn't too keen on any of the other new characters. :\

Snape/Draco!! Oh, the subtext! The running away together at the end! You couldn't have thought up a better set-up for that ship if you tried!

Also, I am all over Albus/Severus and Albus/Harry. This makes me feel slightly dirty. :> Albus/Severus is so interesting to me especially with all these theories surfacing about a second Unbreakable Vow, and, well, of course, *the scene*, and all the questions it raises. As for Albus/Harry, that is just plain cute, and "Dumbledore's Man", and "I'm with you" made me bawl like a sap.

i'm probably biased, but i have to go with Fenrir Greyback. he was just, pure evil in such wonderfully horrible ways. *grins*

i also found myself liking Slughorn, although i was a bit dubious about him in the beginning. i loved the scene at Aragog's funeral.

i wasn't much impressed with the new Minister, but i don't feel like i got enough feel of him in this book, so, that could change.

[identity profile] acid3.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
Erm . . . possibly. I was thinking more of along the lines of a fic and was just debating with myself how I can fit it into my schedule. But artwork certainly works as well.

It was Romilda Vane.

I just want to hug Merope and say "It's not worth it, he's not worth it, get the hell out of England and far away from your family!"

[identity profile] iibnf.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I think the Sanguini (what a name!) and the pasty scene was probably about my favourite in the entire book. Brilliant bit of writing!

[identity profile] lizardspots.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Slughorn was fabulous, and Fenrir Greyback has tickled my mojo. He's so sexy in a murderous paedophilic way. XD! I didn't like Romilda Vane much, she reminds me of Bellatrix. Rufus Scrimgouer was a little annoying, but I sense there's a whole lot of backstory behind him.

Ships - Remus/Fenrir! :D HBP has also awakened a slight interest in Snape/Draco for me, and restrengthened my Snape/Harry obsession. :D

[identity profile] lizardspots.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
Omg we think exactly the same things. *cheers* Yay Fenrir!

[identity profile] inathunderstorm.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
But then we wouldn't have Voldemort. *hugs Voldemort*

But...yeah. Really. That story never ends well. I might have shown her a mythology book, and pointed out what happens to the mortal her namesake fell in love with. "See? Rocks are BAD."

[identity profile] acid3.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Heh. That scene definitely appealed to my often strange sense of humor. I agree, just brilliant.

There was enough subtext in that book to keep me cheerfully plotting for the next two years. Until Jo kills them both. The bitch. :)

Now I'm trying to decide if they were actually fucking this year or if it was all UST that'll explode once they get off together. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

(This is my new favouritest icon ever. *grin*)

I really felt the Severus/Narcissa love. ;)

i would actually consider harry/luna much cuter than harry/ginny :o!!!

slughorn rocked, i want to draw him all rolly with popping buttons :P hahahaha
dont really have any feelings for the new minister. he didnt really do much... i bet he looks cool though. greyback was pretty fascinating, too

[identity profile] starrysummer.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 01:55 am (UTC)(link)
Slughorn. Loved him. I mean, our first glimpse of him was as a TALKING ARMCHAIR.

Ships? Snape/Bellatrix, Narcissa/Bellatrix, Draco/Pansy, Draco/Myrtle, Ron/Squid and LOTS AND LOTS OF INFERI!PORN.

[identity profile] mooncharm.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
He's so sexy in a murderous paedophilic way.

Horrifically well said Lizard. :D *licks Fenrir*

Sanguini is the obvious name for a vampire in a world where a werewolf is named Remus Lupin.

[identity profile] flimpy.livejournal.com 2005-07-19 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Slughorn is fandom's new bitch. :D LOVE HIM.

As for new ships? Snape/Narcissa. Draco/Myrtle has interesting possibilities, I say without irony!

And of course, my love for Snape/Draco has only strengthened. *Huzzahs*

Luna as Quidditch commentator yay!

Blaise Zabini as a tall, handsome, exotic black guy yay!

Phineas Nigellus didn't have enough lines, darn it. I still love him.

Sluggy Slughorn!

Yay for Tom Riddle's dysfunctional family!

Aside from making Snape/Draco CANON BABY! I also was pleased to see Draco/Myrtle, Ron/Squid, Hagrid/Aragog - and am seriously tempted by Lockhart/Slughorn.
