Strange days, indeed

My day started off typically...

Lunch was a Subway Club at where else...Subway.

But then -- my day got weird.

I helped bring a new life into the world today. I actually assisted in delivering a baby.

It was fascinating and weird and messy and uplifting -- all at the same time.

I was tempted to press for a middle name, but then I thought, why torture another soul with such a fucked up name like Penny :P

Wow. I take it you weren't uh, anticipating this to happen?

Wow! That's awesome! Isn't it just beautiful, watching someone give birth?

Congrats! That's such a wonderful feeling. :)

Speaking as one who was a birth coach for two of her cousins.

OMG. I bet that was weird! ;)

Congratulations! That is so cool! I'll bet you did fantastic, too.

I've never seen someone's pussy explode

I bet that's something to remember.

Too cool. I can't wait to give brith to my bean. How are you Penny?

Oh wow! I take it this wasn't an intended part of the day's schedule?
That must be really mind-blowing, to be one of the first to see a new little person arrive.

And there are certainly worse names than Penny. Believe me. My dad was intent on calling me Beryl. He actually went off to register me as such, then decided against it while he was there but forgot for the first few days after to tell my mum that he'd actually registered me with the name Mum had really wanted. I maintain that's why I'm as confused as I am - being wrongly called Beryl for three days at the start of life would do that to anyone.

Well, you're a med student aren't you? Just think of this as practise then...

What a wonderful thing to witness! Each time I have been present for such an event, I feel blessed.
And it has also affirmed over and over to me that I never want to give birth. Ever. I am more than happy to be the auntie/godmother that spoils the kiddies.

wow. birth scares the shit out of me, personally, but i can see how it might be an interesting experience to watch it.

Wow that's actually really awesome. Gross, but awesome.

That's amazing! I can't wait til I get to assist with one.
