The 411 on Remus Lupin

I'll be the first to admit -- I don't write Remus Lupin well.

I know that I 'prefer' him submissive. I have a harder time wrapping my brain around alpha Remus, especially paired with Snape or Sirius.

I think people associate his lycanthropy with 'aggressive' tendency and sometimes forget that not all wolves are alphas of their packs.

So for those of you that write Remus Lupin on a consistent basis, do you prefer him aggressive or docile? Or perhaps a little of both?

Oh, I agree. Remus does take care of business. He just has a different way of showing how.

Remember when he 'quietly' put Peeves in his place?

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Agreed, dear! :-)

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Sit, Sirius! Ha! You can read so much into the most simplistic statements made by JK. What I love about this fandom :-)

Fair -- oh yes, definitely, Bernice. Fair and stern like Minerva. He did demand the map back from Harry. It was the right thing to do.

Same here! [livejournal.com profile] scribbulus_ink writes a lot of lovely Remus stories that fit your preferences. But I'm sure you already knew that :-)

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Hmm, now I think he'd be beta with Sirius and Snape -- an alpha with Harry. Again, passive aggressive fits nicely too :-)

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Hm... I tend to see him as in control, but not controlling, if you know what I mean.

You hit the nail right on the head, dear :-)

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
You know...I'm glad I wasn't the only one to see him as a Ravenclaw. And yes, the man stays out of petty arguments. He does have that advantage over Sirius and Snape -- a sort of quiet cool.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:10 pm (UTC)(link)
My friend, so sorry for not realizing you've friended me. *is honoured to have you on her list* Thank you muchly.

The honour is all mine :-) *winks*

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:11 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't see Remus crying -- despite all of his plights. I'm going to 'argh' with you on that, dear.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Now see, I do love to see him topping from the bottom with Snape :-)

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:13 pm (UTC)(link)
In chan fics, he's sub if he's the boy, and dom in a caring, nurturing, training-the-cub sort of way if he's the adult.

Totally agreed on that, Anath.

[identity profile] themostepotente.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooooh, girl, you should know better than not to leave links. I want to see your Remus piccies!

[identity profile] neotoma.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 03:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Not as far as I can tell, no. It looks like Lupin let his responsibilities slid yet again.

Of course, even if Lupin did talk to him, do you think Snape would have listened?

[identity profile] artimusdin.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 06:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I know you are an artist, Dina. Do you write as well?

I lack the patience to do so. *grins* I beta read for people, yes, but that is the extent of my writing now days. I much prefer my art, much more relaxing. *nods*

[identity profile] scribbulus-ink.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Thanks! I have a very strong Remus muse living in my head who tends to be quite vocal, so I have a rather in-depth personal characterization of the character that pervades anything I write about him. *g*

[identity profile] scribbulus-ink.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
Alpha!Remus can be wicked, wicked fun. ;)

[identity profile] artimusdin.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:05 pm (UTC)(link)
*grins* oh yes, but it's the laid-back!Alpha-Remus that gets me shivering. In a good way of course. *smirks*

[identity profile] scribbulus-ink.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
LOL! I wouldn't be surprised if Snape is jealous of Remus, and not just because Remus is able to control his classroom without scaring the wits out of them. Both of them have suffered, both had difficult childhoods, both are outsides. Snape is who Remus could have become if he had let anger, resentment, and bitterness eat at him. They're two sides of the same coin -- hence my love of the pairing.

[identity profile] scribbulus-ink.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
That's generally how I write him -- in control and able to maintain that control with a quiet word, in bed and out of it. ;)

[identity profile] artimusdin.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
*snickers* Sounds fun to me. *grins* Pardon my ignorance, but what pairings have you written and where can I find them? I'm in the mood to read some Remus!fanfiction. XD

[identity profile] scribbulus-ink.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I've got plenty of that in quite a few different pairings, but I'll just give you a few of the better ones. *G*

Snape/Lupin
The Way of the World (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/walkaway.html) (long)
For Life (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/forlife.html) (long)
Run, Run As Fast as You Can (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/runrun.html) (short PWP with alpha!Remus)

I have 5 Remus/Harry stories here (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fictionrlhp.html), mostly shortish PWPs.

Remus/Sirius:
The Taming of Sirius Black (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/rlsb.html) -- long, featuring a dom/sub relationship.
Break Through (http://www.livejournal.com/community/pornish_pixies/96451.html) -- PWP

Human Again (http://www.livejournal.com/community/pornish_pixies/92105.html), which is a Remus/Bill PWP.

And Better Than Handsome (http://remembrall.slashcity.net/fiction/betterthan.html), which is a Remus/Neville PWP and a bit unusual. *G*

That's just an overview; I have something like 20 Snape/Lupin stories in all, plus a few other het Remus stories. Can you tell I like Remus? ;)

[identity profile] artimusdin.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 07:26 pm (UTC)(link)
oh! OH! *manic grin* This makes my day, bless you! *marks them to read, since she knows she'll need some sooner or later*

:D

[identity profile] artimusdin.livejournal.com 2004-04-24 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Guuhh... *shivers* What would I have to do to get you to write more Remus/Bill fics? *eyes glaze over* I'll willingly draw something for you, if you wish, my pencil/wacom tablet is at your disposal. *grovels*
