I like the idea of having the violin in your lap for inspiration.
Speaking only for myself, it's worth the bother because it's like walking outside in the grass. You can't really experience the sensation of grass beneath your feet while wearing shoes. Writing is like taking your shoes and socks off. It's the freedom to feel whatever the hell you want, experiencing it all and enjoying it for no one save yourself.
