haha, I love the sons of Feanor! My very first fanfic, which was a story for a class in college (*facepalm*), was a Silmarillion-based fic. Oh, god, it was wretched. Not the idea, necessarily, but certainly the execution. I was still in the "imitate the author" mode of writing where I tried to sound like Tolkien. Aip. Luckily no one ever read it but my prof. Poor lady.
