A Game of Thrones 1.01
I can't believe it's snowing. My lovely, verdant lawn is coated in white. Michigan weather can suck it.
So, a Game of Thones premiered last night. I've been waiting for this FOREVER. Overall, I was quite pleased apart from some minor nit-picks. I loved the world-building, the majority of the castings and how things are slowly falling into place. The beginning sequence with the white-walkers set the tone nicely, and I just loved the overall feel. I hope this does well.
I loved Sean Bean as Eddard Stark. This may or may not have something to do with his role as Boromir.
I'm really satisfied with the whole Stark clan, I think.
Peter Dinklage is going to be a scene-stealer, I can just tell. He's PERFECT for Tyrion.
I loved the brief glimpses of the Hound.
Joffrey doesn't appear like I pictured, but he looks like a little bastard.
I LOOOOVE the Targaryens. Someone on my flist mentioned the white-blond hair didn't look right for them, but I disagree. Viserys is fucking HOT. It's too bad he's a douche canoe and dies early on.
I also love Mark Addy as Robert Baratheon. Another perfect casting. And Jason Momoa for Khal Drogo? GOD YES.
Which brings me to my two favourite characters; Cersei and Jaime. The jury's still out on Lena Headley. I think she has the role right, but I'm not convinced of the look.
This guy they got to play Jaime is the BIGGEST FUCKING DISAPPOINTMENT. Jaime is supposed to be good looking with long blond hair. Also, he looks NOTHING like Cersei for being her twin brother. He is a serious breach of WTAF. He almost ruins the character for me. That was a poor casting choice in the way Thewlis was for Lupin. Way to go guy. You're my only major bitch. Ugh. He would have to be my most favourite character, too.
Thoughts anyone? Love to hear them!
I have icons, too, if anyone wants some. Leave me your email addy, and I'll upload the set.

I don't understand why everyone's going on about the Targeryns hair is too white - it's SUPPOSED to be white! (Though their eyes are supposed to be purply, and they just went with pale). Viserys is GROSS and exactly how he should be.
Overall YAY!!!!
ps Arya♥ and Tyrion♥

I don't know who's who, exactly, but the 'fucking hot Viserys', if I am not mistaken, is Harry Lloyd, Will Scarlet from BBC Robin Hood? This guy?
Nice.

As for other thoughts, I don't have them. Or a TV.

And while I found Robb to be terminally boring in the books, I think I'm going to like him, this time around. A lot. *is shallow*

Tyrion is PERFECT, totally agree with you there. And Bran. And... most of the casting, I think. I think I'll like Daenerys much more than I do in the books. Viserys has me kind of... confused. I mean, I hated him in the book, he was a right bastard and not the sexy kind either, but here he looks hot and I'm not sure exactly how I feel about him. :P Joffrey seems suitably loathsome already. Jaime, yes, he's not as pretty as he should be, but well, but I find he has the right vibe? I rather like him so far.
Anyway, I'm definitely excited for more!

I was saying that I have difficulty disliking Lena Headley and so I have difficulty disliking Cersei as I feel I should, lol.

Peter Dinklage is my favorite always
The jury's still out on Lena Headley. I think she has the role right, but I'm not convinced of the look. - TOTALLY! I like her, I think she'd playing it well, but she does not look quite how I pictured the character. She's almost... not cold enough.
LOL Jamie - when he took his helmet off after arriving at Winterfell, my mom and I both said 'wow, he looks like Denis Leary!'
