Back From Dragon*Con!
A smallish con report. *g*
I'm back from Dragon*Con. Actually, I was back Monday, but I am still exhausted, and I seem to have been plagued with con crud. Yes folks, that translates to me being sick. A-fucking-gain. Sore throat. Stuffed-up nose. Cough from the sub-levels of hell. Apparently, I pissed someone off big time. Ugh.
So, this was my first time to a big media con. The cosplay/costuming was just AMAZING. I could sit and people watch for hours. There was an awesome Dumbledore, A Prince Nuada I briefly considered stalking, and a group of guys dressed as Predators whose costumes blew me the fuck away. AND THE WEEPING ANGELS FROM WHO! *loves* OMG, and so much steampunkery I was giddy with girlish glee. Seriously, it was hard for me to contain my love of all things Victorian. And the gadgetry! I bought a pair of goggles to go with my leather stovepipe hat for next year. And a nice corset.
I had no idea that Resident Evil cosplay would be so popular. Umbrella Corp en masse. And Firefly has a huuuge following called the Browncoats. I did not know this! One of the great things about cons; you discover new and wonderful things. Two years ago, I had no idea steampunk existed until I went to LosCon.
Since I am a big loser and took no pics, I encourage you to look at
stupid_drawings pics here, because she is awesome. And there are three other posts, too.
I think I mingled more with fandom peeps than I did my hotel roomies. I hung out with
furiosity a bit. And I met up with
incognito,
kerryblaze,
kriken and
fiona_fawkes.
mijan,
violet_quill and
coffeejunkii, my dears, I missed not seeing you all :-(
The post-panel Merlin meet-up was lots of fun! I got to meet the wonderful
ella_bane for the first time <3 <3 <3
archaeologist_d,
ninja_orange,
sabriel75,
gateslacker and someone whose LJ name escapes me atm *hides* were also in attendance. It's always great to finally place names with faces. And
archaeologist_d wore her feathery Merlin hat just to be a cheeky goddess. *g*
Got no autographs and met no celebrities, but I did talk to a Rodney McKay look-alike. I was rather smitten, too, and I'm much more of a Joe Flanigan fangirl. Speaking of which, reveals went up at
mcshep_match. I will be posting my John/Rodney fic soonish.
Gah, skip a gazillion-billion-trillion. What's new with everyone? I MISSED YOU ALL!!!
