Anatomy of a Prank - Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs [PG-13] by
xylodemon.
Yeah, I know. It's near 30k of at least a dozen boys with no shipping agendas. Where's the payoff, right? But if you've ever read any of Julie's Marauders' era fics, you'll know exactly the kind of brilliance I'm suggesting, even gleefully endorsing.
In 'Anatomy of a Prank', Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs set out to execute the most clever schoolwide stunt in the form of...
Nope, not gonna tell.
What I will divulge is that Julie has this gift of characterising four boys and a mess of Slytherins (why yes, yes I did make her include Snape and Regulus for purely selfish reasons *EG*) in ways Rowling can't even touch. Made funnier, of course, by McGonagall's bullshit metre hidden secretly in that prim, tightly wound bun of hers. Not strangely enough, she's always hot on their heels (and, according to Sirius, hot for his arse).
Did I mention this has accompanying visuals?
Ultimately, Sirius is my favourite, but no one Marauder is ever the showstopper nor are any of the fab four ever neglected. And yeah, that's sometimes the case with Peter's unexplained non-existence. Julie's just as equally unforgiving as she is rewarding, especially towards the end when the boys make a selfless sacrifice (well, mostly selfless due to James's girly bellowing :P) on Peter's behalf in the name of soft curves and ample breasts. Oh, boys, how I love thee!
I don't want to spoil any more, but I do want to emphasise the brilliance of appropriately named statues, broom cupboard antics and suits of armour that harmonise better than a barbershop quartet. This is such a great fic if you're feeling like a pick-me-up's in order, or if you're just feeling indulgent. I highly recommend this even if the Marauders are not your cuppa. It's guilt-free, good old-fashioned fun.
