Oh, Happy Birhtday!!!! I can second the others in saying that 39 was much harder than 40. I started writing fanfic at 39--a fairly innocuous mid-life crisis. It does feel a little like a corner turned to turn 40, but it was not a bad corner at all. My friends wanted me to have a big celebration, but that didn't feel right to me. I went to a spa with my best friend. So, advice is celebrate in ways that make you feel good about yourself.
