Let's Dance To Joy Division - Harry/Draco [NC-17] by [livejournal.com profile] femmequixotic.

Much to my delight, Femme starts this sexy, heartfelt romp with Draco lamenting his twenty-ninth birthday, and the backlash of eight months, one week and three days. This is much the same way I lamented my thirty-ninth birthday. Well, almost. I pretend to know nothing about eight months etc. Pity, though, I have ten years on the bastard, we might have commiserated together.

Femme has a real talent for conveying the twenty-something pureblood socialite to us; good friends, better wine and persistent boredom. She makes me utterly adore Blaise, a character I've never really given two shits about. She makes me grin hard every time Pansy even speaks. To say nothing of her Machiavellian ways and her ominous makeup bag. And then there is Draco, so perfectly characterised that I don't give his retreating hairline a second thought.

Femme promises club!fic, and she definitely delivers. The trio embarks on a night out with all the twinkish trimmings. Only, it's not really a trio anymore. At least not when Harry shows up. And the interplay between Harry and Draco is just blissful.

She does classify this as a PWP, but this is so much more to me. It's wrought with emotion and frustration and tenderness, and I was seriously floating on cumuli when I reached word twelve thousand five hundred. Just beautiful.

Calm Inside the Storm - Ginny/Scorpius, Ginny/Harry, Harry/Draco implied by Mystery Author on [livejournal.com profile] nextgendarkfest.

Occasionally, you'll hear me speak of fic drive-bys. This is one of those times. I kept coming back to this fic then changing my mind, insistent I had no interest in next-gen het or Ginny Weasley. Which, to be perfectly honest, on most occasions I don't. On both counts. This should be a solid testament to the author's writing.

I don't know what persuaded me to read this fic, but I am so glad I gave in more to the push rather than to the pull. This is such an exquisite mindfuck.

Being the Star Trek geek that I am, I am reminded of the Romulan Tal'Shiar's motto: We expect deception, therefore we always find it. To a woman scorned, I'm sure this means everything. And nothing. But the choices, the indecisions that Ginny…that I was faced with…

The author has cleverly blocked out some text in the warnings, and I applaud her wording ingenuity. Do yourself a favour and resist the temptation to highlight. You'll be so glad you did. Enjoyed this MUCHLY.

The Potters At Home - Harry/Ginny, Harry/? [PG-13] by [livejournal.com profile] minnow_53.

A few days ago, Lee recced a fic by Minnow. Having loved Baby Dear and being the curious sort of gal that I am, I decided to scroll down a bit and read some more of this author's work. What I found was another wonderful character study of Ginny.

Most of the time, Ginny's made to be the shrew or the source of Harry's misery. Here, it's just the opposite, and Ginny's coping skills are ragged at best. While Harry's out having his, Ginny's having hers -- with the bottle. To worsen matters, things are crumbling down around an article in Witch World about the ever-so-perfect-Potters. I like the message I was given here; it's not easy to live up to an image.

It's no easy task getting me to feel something for Ginny, harder still to make me dislike Harry. Funny how the tables sometimes get turned.

Enjoy all!
