It's always nice to find someone you really 'click' with chemistry-wise. It starts with a specific love of a pairing. Each person relates better with one of those characters and boom, you discover collaboration.
Through an RPG, I got to know
satinvalkyrie better. We share a mutual love of Snape/Black, and found out just by goofing off over IM that we were compatible.
It doesn't seem to stop there either. I have several joint projects with
cave_canem,
lizardspots, and
ladyflowdi in the works.
Some of fandom's best fics I've noticed are born of collaboration.
Just look at
alchemia and
bugland.
Or
kaiz and
josanpg.
ashinae and
cruisedirector collaborate on one of my favorite pairings.
Then there's
snapetoy and
dementordelta.
isiscolo has collaborated with
brevisse and
fabularasa.
What generated the interest for me in finding a writing partner was a story that
gmth and
snaples wrote back in the KR days. (Found here on the Snape/Lucius masterlist.)
So how does a collaboration begin? That's what I'm hoping to find out through this discussion.
What makes the writing chemistry either good or bad? Can bad chemistry be corrected?
If you collaborate, how did you stumble upon your writing partner?
Any other RPG or writing partnerships we should all know about?
Swing by and tell us all about what makes writing together fun!
