Heh. How is it I suddenly remembered that I MUST mention this film? I was pondering the words of rexluscus and schemingreader above, in their exchange on the merits (or not) of ridiculing something that might be to someone else's taste. And I thought to meself, "Yes, but what about the devilish satisfaction one feels when a piece of pretentious shit gets its comeuppance from a master of denunciation? Like, for example, Robert Hughes taking Julian Schnabel over his knee, critically speaking, for the dreck he had the nerve to churn out and hawk to museums?" And my brain retorted, "Fool of a Took, if it weren't for Julian Schnabel, there would have been no Javier Bardem in Before Night Falls!" To which I responded, delicately, "OMFG, must add to post!!!"
